RAID: Call of the Arbiter Soundtrack from Jesper Kyd set for summer release

For many fans, watching RAID: Call of the Arbiter will be to learn more about their favorite Champions from the hit RPG, RAID: Shadow Legends, upon which the show is based. Others, however, will be there to hear the soundtrack from award-winning composer Jesper Kyd.

“I’m proud to share the soundtrack for the new RAID series in collaboration with [RAID: Shadow Legends developer] Plarium,” says Kyd. “The score was written to help bring new storylines to life for the most popular RAID characters, and set the tone for what’s to come.”

Star-studded production team leads RAID: Call of the Arbiter

RAID: Call of the Arbiter, a ten-part limited animated series, provides origin stories for a number of prominent characters from RAID: Shadow Legends, and expands on the game’s lore.

Behind the scenes, a number of big names from the entertainment industry have been hard at work bringing the series to life. The team includes Eric Rollman, the former Marvel Television and Animation president, and Jay Oliva, director of the 2012 animated movie Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. They’ve worked in collaboration with the California-based studio Lex+Otis, and French animation studio TeamTO.

Jesper Kyd Soundtrack Slated For Summer Release

Kyd’s contribution to RAID: Call of the Arbiter comes in the form of 11 tracks due to be released for digital download and streaming this July by Lakeshore Records. Individual tracks are already dropping weekly to accompany COTA episodes on YouTube. The full tracklist is as follows:

  1. The Arbiter’s Call
  2. High Elves and Dark Elves
  3. Kael and Elhain
  4. Athel’s Calling
  5. Galek’s Story
  6. Jizoh and the Spider Queen
  7. Gnut Joins the Fight
  8. The Ancient Guardian
  9. The Demonspawn Alure
  10. Bad El Kazar

Big things are expected from Kyd’s soundtrack, with anticipation already building ahead of the summer release. That should come as no surprise given Kyd’s previous, much-celebrated work in both the dark fantasy genre and in the entertainment industry as a whole.

Who is Jesper Kyd?

Kyd’s work on RAID: Call of Arbiter is just the latest in a long list of his credits within the game, TV, and film industries. The Danish composer and BAFTA award-winner has also produced music for major game franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Borderlands, Darksiders, Hitman, and Warhammer.

In film, meanwhile, Kyd’s achievements include the score for Chinese fantasy/sci-fi picture Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe, an adaptation of the best-selling novel Ghost Blows Out The Light. The film went on to hit top spot at the Chinese box office.

On the small screen Kyd has been no less prolific, with his output including scores for seasons one and two of Metal Hurlant Chronicles, a live action sci-fi series based on the graphic novels of French artist Jean ‘Moebius’ Giraud.

Jesper Kyd: Live Entertainment and the Critics’ Choice

Besides featuring on screens and in games, Kyd’s work has been performed live by orchestras around the world, including at the Krakow Film Music Festival and Tenerife International Film Music Festival. Kyd has also taken a leading hand as the composer in the Assassin’s Creed Symphonic Adventure, an immersive experience combining live orchestral music and film.

With such a varied and extensive body of work, it’s no surprise that Kyd has received multiple accolades from the critics. For his soundtrack to the Eidos game Hitman: Contracts, the composer took home a BAFTA award in the Best Original Music category. Since then, he has also been honored at the Critics’ Choice Film Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, and by the Game Audio Network Guild, among others.

Kyd’s soundtrack to RAID: Call of the Arbiter will undoubtedly reach the same high standards the composer has set for himself over the years. Be sure to check it out when it drops. It’s set to be released on July 21. If you can’t wait till then, just tune in weekly to each Call of the Arbiter episode starting May 18 to hear it during the show!
